IN THE EMBRACE OF THE BIG SOUND

We are not talking about acoustic systems that please the ear with the purity of sound - high-end people's cars are not supposed to. The formless song flowing from the standard audio system sometimes breaks through such a series of extraneous noises that it’s time to formulate complaints not about the quality, but about the quantity of sounds penetrating into the interiors.

At first glance, Renault Logan is not bad in terms of acoustic comfort. From the first minutes of communication you understand: they did a good job with sound insulation. “Logan” does not interfere with extraneous sounds at speeds of 60–80 km/h, and almost does not react to asphalt roughness. You start to wince a little later - along with the growing rumble of the engine, which annoyingly breaks into the cabin as early as 3000 rpm. And this is only 100 km/h in the highest, fifth gear. Having saved on transmission gear ratios (one gearbox and a main pair for engines of 82 and 102 hp), the creators took a very controversial approach not only to acoustics, but also to fuel consumption. Over a 400 km test run, the Logan with a manual transmission required the same amount of gasoline as a Grant with an automatic transmission - an average of 7.1 l/100 km. No comments needed.

There are also positive aspects. The combination of a short transmission range and a 100-horsepower engine is, of course, not a hurricane of passions, but the tandem is reliable and playful. Yes, the 1.6-liter engine lacks traction when starting off, but it is good at medium and high speeds. You can rev the engine right up to the cut-off, and then the Logan will seem very lively and energetic. Or you can turn on fifth gear at 40 km/h, forgetting about the rest, and the car will go!

“Logan” is generally very muscular and plump. The suspension did not lose its basic properties during modernization. Having become a little more collected, it still copes well with most irregularities. The brakes are pleasing with the stability of the results. Even the handling can be described not only as reliable, but also as interesting, tailored to the driver. Logan is good at driving, you can’t take that away from it.

Volkswagen Caddy

Caddy offers a wide choice to the buyer: gasoline or diesel engines, manual or robotic transmission, all-wheel drive or front-wheel drive, a huge range of options, configurations, etc. The variability is several times greater than that of the ascetic LADA Largus, and the average price tag is higher - 604 thousand rubles.

The trunk volume is comparable to Largus's - 530 liters. It is useless to compare the ergonomics and comfort of Caddy and Largus: on all counts, the “German” wins by a huge margin.

If you are ready to overpay almost 170 thousand rubles, choose the seven-seater, spacious, comfortable and variable Volkswagen Caddy. But keep in mind that only every seventh car is given away without problems. Every second one is knocked down and every fifth one is on lease.

As can be seen from this material, Largus is far from the most budget-friendly roomy car. Both Focus and Lacetti will cost less, but will also be able to fit a stroller in the trunk or even a compact refrigerator. But only Largus and Caddy can boast a seven-seater cabin, but the price range between them in the economy segment looks like a yawning chasm. You will have to choose what to prioritize: budget, number of passenger seats, trunk volume or comfort.

If you choose a car based on price, the “universal” version of the Priora will cost the least. If you pay attention only to spaciousness, the leader will be FIAT Doblo. If you need a comfortable, reliable seven-seater with a roomy heel, take a Volkswagen, but budget is out of the equation.

Comparison of video reviews and test drives

Big test drive from Sergei Stillavin and Rustam Vakhidov. They will tell you about the new Lada Granta in a fun and humorous way. All about features, comfort, equipment. It talks about basic and additional options that are important for drivers, may interest them or will become key when choosing a car.

We showed and tested the ease of sitting in the back row of seats.

Separately, we did a large review of the trunk. They told and showed its capacity and the possibilities of increasing the useful volume. The ease of loading and unloading, as well as the possibility of transporting large cargo, was assessed. Rustam lay in the trunk as usual.

Driver's seat. The presenters talked about the comfort of the driver's seat itself and the possibilities of its adjustment. An overview of the control panel is made from the point of view of convenience, its main functions are demonstrated. We examined the audio system and provided additional functionality. We assessed the quality of the finishing material.

During a test drive of the car, we checked the comfort of driving around the city. We assessed the stiffness of the suspension, cornering and other important points for the driver. The presenters talked about their own feelings, as well as what another driver might like and dislike.

The review talks about a used Lada Granta car. The review is shown to everyone who is considering this car for purchase. You won't find a more detailed description of the car's pitfalls.

Find out what to expect when buying a used car. Which components and assemblies need to be diagnosed first.

The review examines various options for equipping a car with engines and gearboxes, indicating the most reliable and unreliable options. The issues of weaknesses, sores and potential problem areas of the car are addressed.

Suspension - the car is shown in a pit and all components and assemblies of the suspension are described. Weaknesses and approximate timing of their failure are indicated, as well as options for their [correction|repair] and, most importantly, preventing their occurrence in the future. Describes the most reliable components and assemblies.

The review also touches on such issues as the cost of operation, features of insurance, warranty and post-warranty service, as well as do-it-yourself repairs of specific car models.

Test drive from Anton Vtornikov about the fastest Lada Grant with the 127th engine

At the beginning, as usual, we talk about the configuration options for the entire Grant line and the tested model in particular. About ease of entry, ergonomics of the driver's seat and ease of entry for passengers in the second row of seats

The main highlight of the review is testing the acceleration dynamics of the car. The presenter conducted several tests to accelerate a car to 100 km/h in a straight line. See the review for the results

Review - comparison of two cars Lada Granta and Datsun On-do. It's no secret that He-do is a slightly modified Granta.

At the beginning, as usual, we talked about the main differences between the two cars, without forgetting about what makes them similar to each other. We touched on the topic of configurations and available additional equipment and told who and what is available.

For all budget cars, one of the most important and most requested features is trunk and second-row seat capacity. A significant part of the review is devoted to these two parameters, showing car trunks, comparing their sizes and ease of loading and use. The rear rows of seats were also subjected to a thorough comparison, with the presenter comparing the amount of space around the passenger as well as the comfort of their stay.

Reconnaissance in force - interior

Naturally, the Renault Logan sedan looks the most brilliant of the entire quartet. Due to the large number of decorated and chrome-plated parts, Logan is “cute” by default. Although in its features it is easy to notice the proportions of the older brother of the old Logan, from other angles the new Renault Logan sedan looks very good. The exterior is fresh, it’s clear that they’ve worked hard on it, and the overall appearance is bright (it’s impossible to blame the car for being plain).

Renault Logan car

Nevertheless, external indicators are regarded as an addition. The main thing is what's inside. Let's see if the interior of the new Renault Logan sedan is that good?

And here the eyes run wild inside. You admire the new architecture of the front panel of the Logan, which is made in two colors, and you are impressed by the completely different combination of instruments of the sedan (even the temperature outside the cabin is displayed in one compartment of the instrument panel). The beautiful Logan steering wheel also attracts the eye, and the heated windshield and convenient “smart” climate control complete the picture.

Also interesting is the design of the sedan's front seats, which are adjusted to different standards. You think, well, this is where the new Renault Logan will stop surprising, but that was not the case. The adjustments of these very seats are made as if they were elements of the seats of some German or Japanese high-class car. And you understand this not only because of the correct and modernized driver’s seat lift, for which the Logan sedan was often criticized at one time, but also because of other, no less significant advantages.

Renault Logan car interior

The new Logan took a lot from other Renault sedans, but you can’t blame it for that. Everything is yours, and for “Logan” this is the most important thing and only an advantage! Archaic solutions are a thing of the past and this sedan has already started playing in a new way.

Among other things, Logan turned out to be the only option in our quartet with a 5-speed manual transmission. There are no automatic versions of this sedan yet, although the manufacturers have assured that they will be released soon.

Now about the Chevrolet Cobalt sedan, which is equipped with 6 automatic transmissions. Despite its outward unpretentiousness, this sedan is in some places attractive and even original. It has plenty of interior space and the comfortable front seats can only be seen as a benefit. And compared to the trunk of a Renault Logan, this one is simply impressive.

The rear seat back in the Chevrolet Cobalt sedan folds, but Renault can also boast of this.

What can I say about the Lada Granta? It is possible that she is also capable of becoming the leader of the four. And it’s not a matter of sympathy for the domestic auto industry. Not at all. The Lada Granta will still get some credit in this test, and when you get acquainted with its interior, you understand that it looks more modern than its fellow countryman, the Nissan Almera. I was pleased with the instrument cluster and the sedan’s large buttons and knobs on the front panel, which are responsible for controlling the ventilation. All this in Lada is done to perfection and in such a way that you can find the right button without preparation. But in “Logan” or the same “Almere” this issue will be more complicated. In the Grant sedan, everything is at hand. In addition, a modern turn signal, blinking immediately after touching, inspires respect. And what about a turn signal! What about wipers that turn on automatically? For a beginner, the interior of the Lada Granta sedan is like home, but the Logan is like a foreign land for an emigrant, where he must get used to everything all over again.

Car Lada Granta

Granta, of course, also has its drawbacks. In particular, this concerns capacity. The Lada is cramped, both in front and behind. The sedan's seats themselves also did not inspire confidence, since you sink into them up to the very frame. You immediately pay attention to the budget plastic, which is even on the steering wheel. Manufacturers also screwed up the automatic transmission selector. You won’t immediately understand, looking at it, which mode is turned on. This is inconvenient and very annoying.

Interior of the Lada Granta car

Out of habit, you can confuse a number with a letter when you look at the information displayed on the sedan’s instrument panel. The door pockets, like the entire interior, are cramped, and the operation of most relays is surprisingly “transparent”.

Nissan Almera is no better. But this sedan, compared to its competitors, has unprecedented space in the rear. But when you get behind the wheel, you understand why there is a lot of space in the second row. I wasn’t pleased with the longitudinal movement of the driver’s seat either. Even a driver with normal average height will feel uncomfortable in this sedan. And the quality of the chair itself leaves much to be desired. Soft padding, by the way, similar to the seats of the Lada Granta sedan, in which you drown, some spinelessness of the “grip”, which is not compensated even by the considerable size of the pillow. In a word, it is far from the best option for a sedan, which is much inferior to the same Logan and Cobalt.

It seems that the interior of the Almera was copied from the first samples of Renault Logan, which the manufacturer abandoned as a misunderstanding already at the design stage. Although it was already too late and the first Logan models saw the light, the manufacturers later corrected their mistake. So, the creators of “Almera” followed the same path. The car clearly lacks cheerfulness. This is some kind of pessimist, who cannot be saved even by a symbol of some kind of prosperity - a navigation system of his own production. But unfortunately, it won’t make you shout “Hurray” with admiration, and even “Grant,” for which nothing but last place was predicted, is somehow more interesting!

Review of VAZ Granta 1.6 sedan 106 hp 2020

Hello. I thought maybe someone would be interested and decided to write a short review. On January 31, I sold my 124 MB and on the same day I decided to take another one, without a car. I was thinking between a Priora and a Grant in the middle configuration with a Conder and a manual transmission sedan. I chose the second option because it’s about 40 thousand cheaper, there’s one more airbag (passenger), otherwise everything is the same, the engine is 106 hp, the gearbox has been slightly modified, the gears are engaged more clearly, but it howls as before, not a little less (it was 21099 2003 release). I was surprised that I had to buy 4 pieces of plastic thresholds - 1000 rubles, I paid 700 rubles for the sills.

The car copes with its task, carries from one place to another, and has not broken down. I did the alignment, pulled to the right from the first kilometers - 500 rubles. I was alarmed by the noise in the steering wheel, when turning the steering wheel to the right or left there was an unpleasant sound, I thought it was defective, as it turned out it was natural noise from the steering wheel or the electric power amplifier, I don’t know for sure. This didn’t happen on the 124th, so I tensed up. I don’t like that the car doesn’t hold a straight line well on the highway, it’s especially annoying when overtaking, uneven roads make themselves felt.

I bought it with a mileage of 13 km, the seller said that the first oil change is 15,000 km, the plant is supposedly improving it, etc. Now it’s 5300, I changed the oil at 4800 (Castrol 10 to 40 3L - 1250 RUR and filter 150 RUR). After the replacement, the engine began to run a little softer and seemed to accelerate a little better, not by much, but that’s how it felt. Gasoline consumption is on the highway, if you drive economically, 5.8 liters per hundred, if normal, 6.2-6.4 liters. City 11-12 liters, average 7.7 liters - AI95. The 106-horsepower engine is enough for overtaking, recently three adults and the air conditioner were on a trip to another city, I was wondering if the engine can fly normally. In the city, I also liked how it pulls at the bottom with the air conditioner on. The headlights shine well at night, I’ve gotten a little used to the seats, the seat is of course a bit small and not long enough (height is 174cm). I can’t remember anything else, if you have any questions, write me.

Doesn't hold the road well

poor sound insulation or lack thereof, who cares,

Tell me which is better to take Grant or Almera, I need a cheap, but new car for every day, with inexpensive maintenance. Grant will cost approximately 360 thousand, Almera is 100 thousand more expensive, is it worth overpaying? The cars are made in the same factory.

Interior

If in all nominations Lada Vesta and Nissan Almera are neck and neck, inferior in some points, but immediately winning back in others, then in terms of interior, the advantage of the Russian sedan is simply overwhelming.

The interior design of the Japanese model is probably the most boring in the segment, and the contrast with the expressive exterior further enhances the impression. Nissan marketers did not invent a wheel and simply copied the dashboard from Logan. Plain cheap plastic, solid gray, round air deflector nozzles, a downward center console, surprisingly unnatural aluminum inserts, and so on. A driver surrounded by such “luxury” is unlikely to want to stay in the car longer than necessary. The only thing that slightly dilutes the depressing picture is the chrome edging of the ventilation holes and the nameplate on the steering wheel.

The interior of the Nissan Almera couldn’t be more boring.

Ergonomics are generally not bad - the keys are located correctly, although some of them are still blocked by the gear lever. The dashboard is informative, and the seats are quite comfortable. But the sound insulation is frankly weak - you can hear the howl of the engine, the whistle of the wind, the clatter of stones in the arches, drops of water and other sounds. But the back row is spacious, which will be a strong argument when choosing a car for a large family.

But the back row is very spacious.

Vesta is much cuter inside. An impressive dashboard, which does not affect its information content, a branded multifunction steering wheel, black plastic (although quite cheap, it looks very presentable), chrome edging, much better thought out ergonomics, comfortable seats, good visibility, sound insulation - in a number of indicators Vesta is completely outplays Almera.

Lada Vesta is much more interesting and prettier.

It’s, of course, tighter in the back, but that’s not critical. In general, the Russian sedan looks noticeably more interesting and attractive inside than the Japanese one.

In the back, of course, it’s tighter, but there’s enough space.

It’s better to take a grant or viburnum for 450

This is my second year riding on a grant. has never let me down. a car for both work and family. very comfortably. Spare parts are probably cheaper than for Almera. yes, even if you take THAT. Personally, nothing rattles or sticks together. I have a sedan. accelerated to 180.150Km/H and doesn’t feel much. It’s up to you bro! good luck with your choice!

Yes, I think the grant looks prettier, but the characteristics depend on the configuration

Topic closed, disappointed in both candidates, they both failed the salt fog test and rusted

what kind of comparison is there money, take the Almera, it’s a spacious, excellent car and nice for my money, my friend bought it from me before, he drove a Priora, he really likes it, if money is a bit difficult, take the Grant - Everything is very simple in my opinion

It seems to me that they will break the same way, but the spare parts for the Almerka will be more expensive!

Take the grant and don’t break your head. It’s a great car, if you want more comfort, more reliability, more style, then this is not an Almera for 470 thousand, it’s a crap Cruz for 570

Is everything so bad at Almera?

So far it seems that Almera is significantly losing to its American competitor. But if you compare the car by its “sores”, it becomes clear that Focus 2 is not so good in technical terms. Among its disadvantages:

  • Expensive original spare parts. Some parts are replaced by assemblies. For example, the power steering fitting is replaced along with the tube, seals and power steering fluid. The whole procedure costs 10 thousand rubles.
  • Expensive rear multi-link suspension. Hello good handling! A full audit will cost 25 thousand rubles. But the procedure is enough for 60 thousand km.
  • 1.8 and 2.0 engines tend to consume oil. You have to add from 500 to 1000 ml in the intervals between maintenance.
  • Poorly thought out design, complicating car repairs. Changing the cabin filter requires acrobatic skill, three hands and 40 minutes to unscrew and tighten the top bolt of the filter cover.

In general, Ford cannot be called unreliable. Breakdowns are infrequent and boil down to periodic maintenance. But the spare parts cost the same as on a higher class model.

Also read: What to buy: Ford Mondeo IV or Volkswagen Passat B6

The Almera's suspension lasts for 120 thousand km, and its design allows it to be repaired either in Uncle Vanya's garage or by yourself with a manual in hand. But there are common disadvantages that irritate owners:

  • Non-reclining backrest of the rear row of seats. You can't transport long objects in Almere. You won't be able to get into the trunk from the passenger compartment either.
  • The headlights leave much to be desired. Even good light bulbs do not improve road illumination much.
  • No additional options. Even in the maximum configuration, the car is as empty as a drum.

But in operation, the Almera is much better than the more stuffed Focus. It is more reliable and inexpensive to maintain.
