How much antifreeze does a gazelle need?

The Gazelle is a fairly common work vehicle, which is very often used in small businesses. With proper and regular care, it will perform well. Regular maintenance includes replacing the transmission fluid in the rear axle.

When changing the oil in the rear axle gearbox of a Gazelle car, it is important not to overfill the lubricant.

Oil change timing

The rear gearbox is not one of the units that often fails, but this is only in case of regular and timely maintenance. The car manufacturer recommends changing the oil in the gearbox only after 48,000 kilometers. The first change of working fluid can be carried out after this period. But these machines are usually used very intensively, and the frequency of replacement will directly depend on this fact. In this case, it is worth changing the oil in the rear gearbox after a mileage of 30 or 35 thousand kilometers. The replacement process is not particularly complicated and can be done independently, in a garage.

CHANGE OF OIL. REAR AXLE. GAZELLE, SOBOL.

For the smooth operation of a Gazelle , it is necessary from time to time to change the oil not only in the engine, gearbox, but also in the axle. It is better to create this replacement after three years of operation, as it is also called, every 35,000 km . When buying a car, regardless of whether it is new or used, the mechanic advises you to change the oil. Replacement will be required if, when checking the level, the oil color looks like strong coffee . if the oil has a dust-colored coating, this indicates that it already contains a lot of deposits from various additives and metal shavings, and the bridge may need to be repaired.

Which oil to choose . motor or transmission? Transmission substances are used for Gazelles. In Soviet times, our country used the corresponding GOST standards to designate lubricants; now all lubricant products have international qualifications. First of all, attention is paid to the viscosity, seasonal substances have the letter “W”, therefore, they belong to the winter version, the absence of a letter indicates that this option is used in warm weather.

KEY-DOP

In practice, it is noticeable that in terms of operation, transmission means are inconvenient and unprofitable. Over the course of a season, the lubricant does not exhaust its service life, and regular changes will become an expensive pleasure for the owner of the car. This inconvenience was compensated by the advent of all-season oils . suitable for any season, this is indicated by an index consisting of two designations, for example 75W-90, 85W0140.

The performance properties of these products, which are divided into five categories, are important for every driver. When choosing an oil, pay attention to the category, since you need to know which category of the product is suitable for a given brand of car. GL 5 class oil for good operation of the gearbox, rear and front axles .

Oil level in rear gearbox

Before you start draining the waste fluid, you need to check its level. This can be done by installing the machine on an overpass or on a viewing hole. It is important to ensure that the surface is absolutely flat. Next, you need to unscrew the filler plug (it must first be cleaned with a wire brush).

When the oil spills out a little during this action, it means that there is enough working fluid and the plug has been closed absolutely hermetically. If the contents of the gearbox will not spill out, then you need to place your finger in the hole and run along the bottom edge. In the case when the liquid reaches this level, we can talk about the permissible norm. If the level drops below the edge, you should immediately find out the cause of the leak and eliminate it before changing the oil. First of all, it is worth determining whether the seals are leaking - this is the most common cause of leakage. You can detect a leak by simply inspecting the seals. They may have oily stains.

When pouring later, it is advisable not to pour too much. Since the pressure in the gearbox increases when driving, fluid pours out through the breather. In addition, the efficiency of the gearbox parts will be negatively affected, and a sufficient amount of oil mist will not form in the sealed cavity.

How much oil is in the rear axle of the Gazelle, how many liters should I fill?

A car like the Gazelle is often used for work. If the vehicle is properly maintained, then the return will be appropriate. Among the necessary maintenance, there must be a procedure for changing the oil in the rear axle.

When is replacement required?

If you carry out timely maintenance of the rear axle of the Gazelle Business or Next, then it will be able to serve its owner for quite a long time.

If you follow the manufacturers' recommendations, you will need to change the oil in the gearbox only after 50 thousand kilometers.

After purchasing a vehicle, the first replacement can be made only after reaching this mark on the speedometer. But this fact depends primarily on the intensity of use of the car.

Therefore, in some situations, it may be necessary to replace the fluid even after a mileage of 30 thousand km. Moreover, carrying out this procedure does not have any special difficulties, so it can be done independently.

Fluid level in the bridge?

Before the used oil is drained, you will need to find out how much oil is left in the Gazelle axle.

This procedure can be performed if you place the car in a special pit. The main condition here is the presence of a flat surface.

After this, the drain hole is freed from the plug. During the procedure, a certain amount of liquid should spill out, this means that everything was closed absolutely hermetically. When nothing spills out, you can put your finger into the hole, running it along the edge. If the fluid in the rear axle reaches the level of the lower edge, then this is normal. If it drops below the specified indicator, then this fact indicates a leak. It is important to fix the problem before adding new oil.

The most common cause of axle leakage is problems with the seals. A visual inspection will be enough to detect oil stains on them. When it's time to pour new oil into the container, it is important not to overdo it so that there is not too much of it. In large volumes it can negatively affect overall efficiency.

Before you begin, you will need to prepare:

  • new suspension;
  • containers for waste material;
  • tools.

How is the gearbox replaced?

Before changing the oil in the rear gearbox, the vehicle needs to be warmed up. This is necessary so that the liquid is drained in full. It should be understood that the procedure can take a lot of time.

There is a certain sequence of actions when performing the replacement procedure, and it is very important to adhere to it:

  • Before unscrewing the cap, it is necessary to clean the breather in the rear gearbox.
  • To unscrew the drain tank plug, you will need to use a special 12mm wrench.
  • The old liquid from the tank should drain into a previously prepared container. Its approximate volume is equal to three liters.
  • At the end of the drain, it is important to check the quality of the waste material. If there is a large amount of debris in it, you will also need to wash the gearbox itself.
  • Before returning the stopper to its place, all foreign impurities are removed from the lid.
  • Using a hex wrench, you need to unscrew the plug from the tank where the transmission is placed.
  • Using a special syringe, diesel fuel or motor oil diluted with kerosene is placed here.
  • Then, the plug must be returned to its place.
  • It is necessary to hang the rear axle by placing supports under the front wheels.
  • It is necessary to start the motor, turn on the first speed, for about five minutes.
  • Then the entire process of draining the flushing composition is repeated.
  • After adding new fluid, it is important to check its required level.
  • It would also be a good idea to process the hubs.
  • At the final stage, you should also check the oil level; if it is below the required level, then it should be added to the required level.

As a result, the approximate volume of the mixture will be equal to three liters. It is important to always keep this level normal, even, just like monitoring other consumables. Then the Gazelle will serve its owner for a long time.

By making all current replacements on time, you can save a lot on unscheduled repairs.

Choosing oil

As experienced Gazelle owners advise, gear oil from almost any manufacturer with a viscosity of 75W90 or 80W90 is suitable for the rear axle gearbox. For example, this could be Liqui Molly 75W90 or Shell Spirax S3. A complete replacement usually requires a little more than 3 liters. But we need to prepare transmission fluid with a volume slightly larger than specified, since, in addition to changing the transmission fluid, most often we also need to flush the rear gearbox.

Replacement process

Before starting work, the machine must be warmed up well. This will allow the fluid in the rear axle gearbox to drain faster and more completely. This process can take quite a long time. You just need to be patient. In addition, any particles in the oil will rise and mix with the fluid in the gearbox, allowing them to be removed when the oil mixture is drained.

  1. We clean the breather, which is located in the rear axle housing. Then turn the cap several times.
  2. We find the plug on the drain hole and unscrew it using a 12mm hex key.
  3. Let the old oil drain into a previously placed container. Typically, the volume of waste liquid is approximately 3 liters.

  4. We check the quality of the drained oil. If it is too dirty - almost black and cloudy, or there are a lot of foreign impurities in the form of metal inclusions, then it is necessary to flush the gearbox.
  5. We put the plug in place. Before installation, it is necessary to thoroughly clean all metal deposits from the magnet on the cover.
  6. Next, you need to remove the plug from the hole for filling the transmission mixture (with a hex wrench).
  7. Using an oil syringe, pour a little more than 2 liters of transmission fluid or diesel fuel, or motor oil with the addition of 20 - 30% kerosene, into this hole in the crankcase.
  8. We screw the plug into its original place.
  9. We put supports under the front wheels, lift them and thereby hang the rear axle.

  10. We start the engine and select first gear. Let the machine run for about 5 minutes.
  11. We repeat the process of draining the washing mixture. This will take approximately 5 minutes.
  12. Clean the drain plug again and screw it into place.
  13. We remove the filler plug again and use a syringe to pour approximately 3 liters of new transmission fluid into the crankcase.
  14. We control the required level.
  15. The oil in the gearbox will also lubricate the bearings on the rear wheels.
  16. It is necessary to further process the hubs; to do this, we alternately raise the right and left wheels with a jack by about 30 cm, for 10 minutes each.
  17. Once again, check the fluid level in the gearbox and, if necessary, top up to the required level.

The gazelle is a very reliable helper, so don’t be lazy in caring for it. Overhauling the rear gearbox or buying a new one is extra and quite a lot of money. It is much more profitable to replace the transmission fluid on time.
