The dump hydraulic mechanism includes an oil drive, a power take-off, a control valve, a hydraulic cylinder, an oil tank, limit valves, a pneumatic drive, electric pneumatic valves and an oil pump. It takes no more than 20 seconds to raise or lower the body.

Cabin interior

This model has a sprung cabin, which is fixed to the frame. The KamAZ 5511 cabin was designed for a couple of people. It can be folded forward using a torsion bar device, which is very convenient in order to carry out care and maintenance of the power unit. The engine allows you to reach a top speed of 80 km/h. The dump truck consumes about 27 liters of diesel fuel at a speed limit of 60 km/h according to the passport.

Transmission

The transmission was a 5-speed manual gearbox with a 2-disc dry clutch. The main speed has a couple of degrees, which contain the presence of cylindrical and bevel gears. All vehicle configurations have rear-wheel drive.

Suspension

The front suspension has a pair of longitudinal springs with sliding rear ends. There are also pins with rubber bushings, which synchronize the suspension shock absorbers with the dump truck frame. The rear-mounted suspension was equipped with a balancer with one axle, which was pressed into its bracket. The rear wheels of the dual type are discless and use a three-piece design.

Brake system

In addition to the main (working) brake system, there are three more: spare, auxiliary and parking. All of them operate offline. The main brake mechanism is of a dual-circuit type and is pneumatically controlled, acting separately on the rear bogie and the axle installed in front.

It can be started by pressing the pedal. If it fails, then using the lever you can turn on the spare system, which operates only on the rear wheels. The parking system serves as part of it. To unload the main system and cool it, you will need an auxiliary one, which uses the presence of a gas-dynamic mechanism in the exhaust device.

The latter can shut off the supply of diesel fuel, which will entail smooth braking. In addition, the dump truck has an emergency brake release drive. It is clear that there was no talk of any ABS system in the KamAZ 5511 model.

Steering

A hydraulic booster, which has a plastic gear pump and a spool-type valve, serves as a steering assistant. The pump drive operates from the crankshaft of the power unit. Dump truck KamAZ-5511

This was in October 1977. The joint efforts of developers from Naberezhnye Chelny and engineers from Mytishchi, sent to help, were crowned with success. The first new dump truck rolled off the assembly line of the Kama Automobile Plant, the prototype of which was the ZIL-170 model. The bright yellow ten-ton truck with a voluminous body rested on three pairs of wheels, the rear of which were double. This made it possible to significantly increase the axial load.

The latest technical developments were used in the design. For example, special headlights that emit asymmetrical beams that do not hit oncoming drivers in the eyes. Or flashing turn signal lights that are activated in emergency situations.

The unit was produced until 1990, and then the designers improved it a little: they replaced the diesel engine with a more powerful turbocharged model, enlarged the body, adding a tailgate, and also installed springs. The result was a thirteen-ton KamAZ-55111 dump truck, which the company produced until 2011. These two models, differing by just one number in the name, are very similar. They are easy to confuse, especially from a distance.

Purpose

Using this machine, you can transport up to ten tons of construction materials, as well as any other loose cargo. For example, it could be garbage waste, snow, soil. The KamAZ-5511 performed well at construction sites, during landscaping, and in agricultural work.

Good off-road capability allows a dump truck to pass even where another vehicle would inevitably get stuck. Moreover, he can work in any climatic conditions. The KAMAZ-5320 entered serial production in 1968. For a long time, the Kama Automobile Plant did not change the shape of the car, the style of execution remained unchanged. The first changes were cosmetic, which began only in 2000. According to its technical characteristics, this vehicle is suitable for transporting any cargo over long and short distances. Kamaz tractors confidently move on city roads, country roads and intercity routes. The vehicles are ideally suited to harsh Russian conditions; they start easily even in severe frosts, plus excellent cross-country ability in mud and slush, making them competitive with their foreign counterparts. Kamaz trucks are exported to foreign countries (more than forty countries) and have long earned popularity abroad after conquering the domestic market, although initially the vehicles were conceived exclusively for the needs of their country. Device

Body

This bucket-type metal part is equipped with a protective visor that covers the cab. Steel sheets forming the bottom are welded to the frame that serves as the base. To make it convenient to empty the cargo, it is slightly widened, and the front side of the body is inclined. And to prevent the cargo from freezing to the bottom in cold weather, there is a body heating system. It runs on exhaust gases. They enter through holes made in the cross member located in front of the subframe.

The subframe is connected to the frame using brackets and ties. The body is raised and lowered hydraulically. The tipping mechanism is equipped with brackets with locking pins that hold the body firmly raised. And to prevent it from turning over, it is insured by a special cable with a spring.

The hydraulic drive of the lifting mechanism contains:

  • A single-stage power take-off box operating from a car gearbox. It is controlled electro-pneumatically - this is done directly from the cabin.
  • A hydraulic cylinder with three stages of a telescopic type, mounted on hinges between the front side and the subframe. The maximum elevation angle is 60 degrees. This triggers the limit valve.
  • Three pneumatic-electric valves and a pneumatic piping system.
  • Oil reservoir, pump, oil lines and control valve.

Engine

There is a “branded” KAMAZ engine without turbocharging with 210 horsepower. It runs on diesel fuel and has eight cylinders arranged in a “V” formation. A closed-type cooling system is used, which requires constant forced supply of a special liquid (antifreeze). This system has two thermostats, and the fan drive is equipped with an automatic fluid coupling.

Frame and axles

The design of the stamped frame is based on channel spars and cross members. There is a buffer at the front. The rear cross member has a towing eye, and the front ends of the side members end in tow hooks.

Transmission and chassis

The gearbox (of the fourteenth model) is mechanical, gear, with five steps. The clutch housing (dry, double-disc) is attached to the front end of its housing. The main gear consists of two stages containing cylindrical and bevel gears.

The front suspension is made on two longitudinal springs with sliding rear ends. Pins with rubber bushings connect the suspension shock absorbers to the car frame. The rear suspension is equipped with a balancer with one axle, which is pressed into its bracket. The wheels, the rear of which are double, are of a three-component, discless type.

Brakes

In addition to the main (working) brake system, there are three more: spare, auxiliary and parking. They work autonomously. The pneumatically controlled dual-circuit working system operates separately on the rear bogie and front axle. It is started by a pedal. If it fails, a lever activates the backup system, which only affects the rear bogie. Parking brakes are part of it.

To unload the main system and cool it, an auxiliary system is used that uses a gas-dynamic mechanism in the exhaust device. It cuts off the fuel supply and the car slows down smoothly. The dump truck also has an emergency brake release drive.

Steering

The longitudinal rod of the car steering wheel is forged, and the transverse rod is hollow. They are equipped with ball joints. Cabin

This model has a sprung cabin, mounted on a frame, designed for two seats. It can be tilted forward using a torsion mechanism - this is done for easy maintenance of the motor. Electrics

Two series batteries are connected in parallel to a three-phase 800-watt generator. The negative from the batteries goes through the switch to the housing. A single wire system provides 24 volts.

The first onboard three-axle tractors KamAZ-53212 began rolling off the assembly line of the Kama Automobile Plant in 1978. The tractor was built on the basis of the KamAZ-53213 heavy-duty truck; it was an extended version of the KamAZ-5320 family of vehicles.

The cardan transmission consists of two cardan shafts. The main gear is double, gear ratio 6.53. The middle axle is equipped with a center differential, which is locked using an electro-pneumatic drive.

The main service brakes of the tractor are drum type, with a diameter of 400 mm and a brake lining width of 140 mm. The brake release mechanism is of a cam design. The brake drive is pneumatic. Brake chambers for the front brakes are type 24 with spring-type energy accumulators.

The pneumatic parking brake is driven by spring energy accumulators. A spare brake mechanism, a motor retarder and a pneumatic drive are combined with the parking brake. The trailer brakes are operated via a combination drive. The brake mechanism is equipped with an alcohol fuse that prevents freezing of fluid in hydraulic systems.

Tractor steering

The steering system of the tractor is a screw mechanism with a ball nut and a piston rack coupled with a toothed section of the bipod shaft.

The gear ratio is 20. The steering mechanism is equipped with a built-in hydraulic booster. The oil pressure in the power steering is 80-90 kgf/cm2.

Technical characteristics of KAMAZ-53212

Currently, the KamAZ-53212 flatbed tractor has been discontinued from production. On the assembly line it was replaced by a more modern model, which received the KamAZ index - 53215, which received a modernized cabin of a new configuration with a high roof.

The load capacity of the tractor has also increased by 1 ton. A distinctive feature of the modernized version is the new design of lighting equipment. The headlights installed in the buffer niches are now rectangular in shape.
