Instructions

First check the spark plugs, since tuning the Ozone carburetor can only be done with working spark plugs. Then start warming up the car engine until the coolant temperature is at least 80 degrees Celsius.

This position will provide the required quantity and quality of the mixture, which will lead to the most economical operation of the engine, as well as low fuel consumption.

See how clearly you managed to adjust the mechanisms. Make a sharp closing and opening of the throttle valve. If the engine continues to run, then you have made the correct carburetor adjustment. The first generation Ozone carburetors (1979-1981) were equipped with a mechanical damper drive, which was later replaced with a pneumatic one.

So, the Ozone emulsion carburetor is a two-chamber product characterized by the following design features:

  • The presence of two main dosing systems.

The solid diameter of the fuel jets ensures stable operation of the product even when using low-quality fuel and under difficult operating conditions. One of the main design flaws of the Ozone carburetor is the absence of an economizer for power modes, which causes low dynamic characteristics and low efficiency.

Operating principle of Ozone carburetors

The principle of operation of the carburetor produced by the Dimitrovgrad Automobile Unit Plant (DAAZ) can be described by the following provisions:

  • The fuel supply device ensures that it (fuel) flows through a filter mesh and a needle valve that determines the filling level of the float chamber.
  • The first and second chambers are filled with fuel coming from the float chamber through the main fuel jets. In emulsion wells and tubes, gasoline is mixed with air coming from the corresponding jets. The finished combustible mixture (emulsion) flows through sprayers into diffusers.
  • After starting the power unit, the shut-off solenoid valve closes the “idle” channel.
  • In the “idle” mode, gasoline is selected from the first chamber and its further movement through a nozzle connected to an electromagnetic lock. As fuel passes through the idle jet and the compartments of the transition system of the 1st chamber, gasoline is mixed with air. Next, the combustible mixture enters the pipeline.
  • At the moment of partial opening of the throttle valves, the air-fuel mixture enters the chambers (using the holes in the transition system).
  • Passing through the econostat, the fuel mixture enters the nozzle from the float chamber. In maximum power mode, a device that enriches the emulsion is switched on.
  • The ball valve of the accelerator pump opens when it is filled with the fuel mixture. The valve closes (under the influence of its own weight) when the fuel supply stops.

What you need to know to adjust the carburetor

The main thing is to do everything in the correct sequence so that you don’t have to do the work again; first you need to go through these steps:

  • clean the radiator housing;
  • adjust the throttle and air damper drives;
  • adjust the starting device;
  • on the throttle valve of the 2nd chamber, adjust the pneumatic drive;
  • adjust idle speed;
  • reduce the toxicity of exhaust gases.

And so on in order, to clean the carburetor body, you need to use mixtures in aerosol cans, you can also just take white spirit or kerosene. To ensure that nothing interferes with thorough cleaning, you need to remove the air filter.

Next, check the length of the throttle valve drive rods. Its normal length should not exceed 80 mm. If necessary, unscrew the nut on the end of the rod and make the length 80 mm. or a little less. If in chamber 1 the damper is not fully open when the gas pedal is pressed, and the lever has additional travel, then it makes sense to reduce the length of the longitudinal rod. You also need to tighten the drive cable if it is loose.

The air damper should be positioned exactly vertically with the drive handle fully recessed into the car interior. If you pull the handle all the way, the damper will completely close the displacement chamber. If this condition is not met, then the drive will have to be adjusted.

To adjust the starting device, you need to rotate the adjusting screw with a slotted screwdriver until the crankshaft speed is established within 3000 rpm. If you change the diaphragm of the pneumatic drive of the 2nd chamber damper, then you need to adjust the length of the rod.

To adjust the XX system, you need to use the quality and quantity screws that are located on the right side of the carburetor compartment.

Adjustments must be made with the engine turned off in this order:

  1. tighten the quality screw all the way, then unscrew it exactly 5 turns;
  2. also tighten the quantity screw until it stops, and then unscrew it 3 turns;
  3. turn on the engine;
  4. set the quantity screw to 800 rpm;
  5. tighten the quality screw until the motor becomes unstable;
  6. unscrew the quality screw back so that the speed stabilizes.

Common problems with the Ozone carburetor

If the carburetor is not cleaned periodically and the performance characteristics are not observed at all, this will lead to a deterioration in its performance, which will have a detrimental effect on fuel consumption and vehicle dynamics.

But any problems with the carburetor can be fixed even with your own hands; mainly there are the following problems:

  • the diaphragm of the starting device is out of order;
  • the needle valve is stuck;
  • drives fail;

Here you need to adhere to a certain scheme so as not to miss anything and avoid unnecessary hassle. Everything is quite easy to do yourself:

  1. First you need to wash and clean the outside of the OZONE carburetor.

  3. Clean the strainer.
  4. Clean the float chamber.

The engine starts, and you use the quality screw to return the speed to normal.

How to identify possible malfunctions?

The design of the mechanism is not the simplest, and therefore there may be several problems. Naturally, they manifest themselves externally. You can track it using the following indicators:

  • Failure when the gas pedal is activated with a serious delay.
  • Jerk in cases of very short failure.
  • Twitching. These are options with several jerks in a row.
  • Rocking when there is not one failure, but several.
  • Sluggish acceleration, if the speed of the latter is seriously behind the usual one.

Other symptoms may also occur. The OZONE carburetor is a somewhat capricious device. Therefore, it may happen that you simply cannot start the engine. Or there will be problems with hot or cold starting. If any difficulties arise at idle, this may also be a sign of a breakdown. Fuel consumption indicators must be monitored: above the norm is not a good sign, as is a difference in the number of revolutions per minute in one direction or another.

The engine does not start. What to do?

There may be several reasons for the problem. First of all, the reason may be fuel or lack thereof. If the level is low, this can cause problems. Also, if the composition of gasoline differs from the usual norm, some problems may occur.

It’s quite easy to check the presence of fluid here - the OZON-2107 carburetor is designed in such a way that you just need to remove the cover from the air filter and turn the throttle valve drive lever several times. Thus, the accelerator pump is activated, and fuel enters the mixing chamber. If nothing happens, it means that for some reason the gasoline simply does not reach.

This can happen due to clogged filters or problems with the supply hoses. In any case, you will need to replace the fine filter and blow out the removed tubes with compressed air.

If everything is in order with this system, then the problem may be a faulty pump or drive. You will need to check the vacuum of the pump, and also try the manual drive, naturally, when you remove it from the car. In cases where everything is in order, it is worth checking the valve for leaks. If everything works as it should, then the problem is in the drive. The VAZ OZONE carburetor may suffer from this. It just needs to be checked.

Dips, jerks and swings

If your car behaves this way under high loads, the problem is often related to fuel supply interruptions. All you need to do is check the system for leaks, as well as all filters installed in it.
