Attention!
The Siberia electric heater
should not touch the engine or other parts of the car.
The electric heater must be installed in a vertical position with the outlet pipe up ( see Fig. 1
), while a slight inclination (not > 15 degrees) is allowed.

  1. Drain the coolant by removing the cylinder block drain plug.
  2. Remove the air duct connecting the air filter to the engine receiver.
  3. Unscrew the nuts securing the adsorber and move it to the place of the high-voltage module.
  4. Apply sealant to the threads of the K 1/8 fitting and screw it in instead of the drain plug ( Fig. 1
    ).
  5. Secure the bracket to the electric heater with M6*45 bolts using spring washers and nuts ( Fig. 1
    ).
  6. Cut the sleeves to length: inlet L=150 mm and outlet L=250 mm
  7. Place a spring length L=150mm into the inlet sleeve, having previously put on a clamp and put the sleeve on the inlet pipe of the electric heater.
  8. Lower the electric heater with the bracket and sleeves to the installation site, put the inlet sleeve on the 1/8 fitting in the cylinder block, having previously put on the clamp and screw the bracket with a bolt M 10*1.25, using the lower of the three free threaded holes in the cylinder block next to left engine support. Seal the connection between the hose and the fitting with a clamp ( Fig. 1
    ).
  9. Make sure that the absorber does not touch the electric heater. If necessary, carefully bend the absorber bracket by grasping directly its body.
  10. Unscrew the temperature sensor from the cylinder head. Apply sealant to the threads of the adapter tee, K1/4 fitting and temperature sensor. Screw the adapter tee into the cylinder head instead of the temperature sensor, orienting the side hole down. Screw the temperature sensor into the axial hole of the adapter tee.
  11. Screw fitting K1/4 into the side hole of the adapter tee. If necessary, bend the oil pipe closer to the block, and turn the adapter tee clockwise by 20-30.
  12. Place the clamp on the outlet sleeve. Pour 250 ml of coolant into the electric heater through the outlet sleeve. Place the outlet sleeve on the fitting (if necessary, it is possible to trim the outlet sleeve) and secure the connection with a clamp ( Fig. 2
    )
  13. Fill the engine cooling system with coolant.
  14. Fix the power cord on the car body so that there is no contact with moving and heated parts of the engine.
  15. Install the air filter.

Preparing for work

  1. Check connection for leaks.
  2. Start the car engine and let it run for 5-10 minutes. Then stop the engine and add coolant if necessary.
  3. Connect the electric heater to the network.
  4. After 2-5 minutes of operation of the electric heater, check the inlet and outlet hoses. The outlet sleeve must be warmer than the inlet sleeve

ATTENTION

!
The electric heater can be operated only after the engine has warmed up to operating temperature (the thermostat must be open) and the efficiency of the interior heater has been checked.
This must be done to eliminate air pockets in the cooling system. Installing a heater on a VAZ 2107

It's winter, it's time to install a 220 volt heater on the engine. In principle, there is nothing complicated in this procedure, the only problem is the availability of a warm room for the work. In this article we will talk about how to install engine heating on a VAZ 2107.

Heater device

  • Ball valve - ensures directed circulation of elevated fluid temperature through the heater into the engine cooling system.
  • Thermostat – ensures optimal engine warm-up, does not allow the heater to heat above the set temperature, which protects the device from overheating and saves energy.
  • Thermal switch – protects the heater in case of abnormal operation (insufficient amount of coolant or lack thereof), in case of failure of the thermostat.
  • The drain plug is an optional feature that provides easy access to drain coolant through the drain hole in the heater. (! In the Severs-M1 model it is installed at the request of the customer),
    only in 2.0 and 3.0 kW heaters.

Installing a heater on a VAZ car

Winter. This is a test for any car owner. And many are annoyed not so much by the deterioration of the road situation (snow, ice), but by the difficulty of starting a cooled power plant. This problem does not exist for those whose cars “winter” in garages; unfortunately, there are relatively few of them. For most car owners, their cars sit idle at night on the lawn, in other words, in a regular garage (most likely).

However, there are certainly ways to make the fate of car owners easier. The most optimal methods now are to install a heater on a VAZ using another car.

Heater

The problem of hard starting of a power plant in winter is due to several factors: the viscosity of the oil increases, the resistance in the battery increases, and it can no longer supply good starting currents. When trying to start, the starter “lazy” rotates the crankshaft, and the rotation speed is clearly not enough to start the engine

. And only after several attempts, when the oil is slightly mixed and the battery “warms up”, the engine can still be started, but this does not always happen.

Please note that the chances of a successful start in cold weather are also affected by the technical condition of the power plant and the degree of wear. Thus, the likelihood of having a classic VAZ family (2101, 2106 ), released 30-40 years ago, is significantly lower than a relatively new car. But installing a heater on a VAZ-2101 increases these chances significantly.

As already noted, the difficulty of starting the power unit is largely due to the solidification of the working fluid. But if you warm them up before starting, the resistance they create due to increased viscosity will not exist, and it will be much easier for the starter to rotate the crankshaft. Heater task. Pre-warm the engine.

This device, as a rule, is universal, so you can easily install the heater on your VAZ, UAZ or any other brand of car.

Types, features of work

There are several options for such equipment, but in fact such a device is a conventional electric heating element that provides heating

one of the power unit powders.

There are several types of heaters. Some of them heat antifreeze, others. oils As for the coolant acting on antifreeze, it is possible to heat both the cylinder block and the elements of the power system, which is important to ensure normal formation of the mixture.

But this device has its drawbacks:

  • warming up the engine takes longer because the cooling system is only a shell of the cylinder block;
  • the oil gets slightly warm because it is below the cooling jacket in the sump, so the heat will only reach it after the good cylinder block has warmed up;

How to install engine heating on a VAZ 2106.

But, on the other hand, when using such a device, there is practically no need to heat the engine after starting, since it is already heated, and warm air is immediately supplied from the furnace to the cabin.

As for oil heaters, this device only heats the oil, the cylinder block and power supply remain cold.

Since the oil volume is small and everything is in one place, it takes time to warm up. But since it only heats the oil, it will take time to warm up the engine after starting.

In general, the efficiency of using the device is approximately the same. When the antifreeze heats up, we get a warm cylinder block and power system that provides good mixture formation (resulting in excellent flammability of the mixture), but cold oil (the load on the battery and starter will remain high). If you heat the oil, it's the opposite. the starter will return easily, but the unit and power system will remain cold.

Heaters also depend on the power source used:

  • 220V;
  • Onboard 12 V (autonomous);

The first option is characterized by high power, and therefore, the heating rate of the working fluid. But to use it, the car must be located near an outlet.

As for stand-alone devices, the heating element is battery-powered, meaning the liquid can be heated anywhere, even in the field. But they are not very powerful, and during operation the battery is discharged, and if it is already on the verge of the end of its service life or is simply discharged, then there is simply no energy left for the starter after warming up.

Antifreeze heaters operating from a 220V network are widespread among car owners. Overall, this is one of the best options. the battery does not run out, the heating element has more power, and after using it the driver also receives hot air from the oven.

Manufacturers of automotive accessories and equipment now offer different models of heaters. All of them are almost identical in principle, but may differ structurally. some consist only of a heating element, while others may additionally have a circulation pump.

The first option is simpler in design and therefore more reliable. The circulation of liquid in it occurs due to temperature changes. Because the fluid velocity in such a device is low, less energy is required to heat the antifreeze passing through the heater.

In a heater with a heat pump, the power unit is more uniform due to forced circulation, but in order to heat the liquid well, the power of the heating element must be high. Additionally, the pump makes equipment failure more likely.

Installing equipment on a car

Installing a heater on a VAZ- 2106 or any other model does not require changes to the power supply. This type of equipment is external and all you need to do is plug it into the power supply correctly.

The heater kit consists of:

  • Insulated block;
  • Fasteners;
  • Adapters, tees and clamps for cooling;
  • Cable with plug.

In addition, to manufacture the liner, sections of pipe of the required length will also be required.

There are several installation schemes for such a device, the simplest of which is shown below.

To ensure uniform heating, antifreeze must be supplied to the device from the lowest point of the engine, which is the cylinder block drain plug. But the output of the already heated liquid, on the contrary, is at the top point.

To connect the equipment to the VAZ-2106 engine you must:

  1. Install the kit from the kit into the cylinder block and connect it using a tube to the inlet connector of the heating block;
  2. Insert the tee from the kit into the upper cooling system pipe coming from the radiator. Connect the tubing leading to the output terminal from the heating block to this tee;
  3. Attach the unit with the heating element to the engine or subframe;
  4. Route the cable to allow easy access to the plug.

When installing the heater, you don't even need to drain the antifreeze from the system. If you pre-assemble the heater (connect the pipelines to the unit, tee and fitting) and quickly carry out installation work, then during operation 1-1.5 liters of coolant will leak out, which will then have to be replaced.

After installation, be sure to check all seams for stains and, if necessary, remove them by tightening the clamps.

Installing a heater on a VAZ-2107 injector is no different from that described above.

Security measures

Finally, a little about the safety rules when using this heater:

  • Do not leave the equipment turned on for a long time. For normal engine warm-up, 1-1.5 hours is enough;
  • If an extension cable is used for connection, the cable must be suitable for the cross-sectional load;
  • When using the equipment on a vehicle parked outside, mark the location where the power cable runs.

Main technical characteristics and design features

  • Power 1.5, 2.0, 3.0 kW
  • Rated voltage 220V
  • Type of current – alternating
  • Cord length – 120 cm.
  • Current frequency 50 Hz
  • Anodized aluminum housing
  • Hermetically sealed housing design with an electric heating element completely eliminates the ingress of coolant into the electrical part
  • Thermostat (operation temperature 85°C (not lower)
  • Thermal switch (operation temperature 140°C (not higher)
  • Small dimensions allow the heater to be conveniently placed in the engine compartment.

How to choose an antifreeze heater for a VAZ 2107?

Of course, before installing heating, you need to buy it. We will consider two options, one with and without an electric pump. Let's look at the advantages and disadvantages of each of them.

Installation of antifreeze heating on a VAZ 2107 with an electric pump

This preheating differs from the other type by the presence of a pump that circulates the coolant while it warms up. Naturally, this significantly speeds up the warming up process, however, the circulation of the coolant does not allow it to warm up to the required level.

Advantages:

  • As mentioned above, such preheating of the engine warms up the coolant much faster.
  • The engine warms up most evenly, which allows you to minimize wear during the first start.

Flaws:

  • Perhaps there are not as few shortcomings as we would like. First of all, constant circulation of water requires high power of the heating element. If it is less than 1.5 kilowatts, this may result in the engine simply not warming up to the required temperature. It will just need to be reheated during operation.
  • Any mechanic will tell you that the fewer parts in a unit, the more reliable it is. An electric pump is installed here, which actually adds a few extra parts. Accordingly, the reliability of such an installation decreases. In addition, installation of the unit becomes more complicated.
  • Additional power supply for the electric pump. The fact is that the pump, as a rule, has a 12 volt power supply. Accordingly, you will have to figure out where to get it. Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is a rechargeable battery, but with this mode of operation it will not last long.

Installation of antifreeze heating on a VAZ 2107 without an electric pump

There is a second type, it is the most common, because in this case one installation is enough and does not require any maintenance. Also, a heater not equipped with an electric pump has higher reliability.
