That is why responsible owners must carry out the procedure for changing the oil in the VAZ 2110 gearbox, taking into account the operating conditions of the vehicle.

Because it is less viscous, there will be significantly less leakage from microcracks in the gaskets. High lubricating properties, and a wide range of operation at different temperatures, since the temperature in summer and winter in most cities of our country is significantly different. And another plus is that it costs much less than synthetic, and the quality is much better than mineral.

The process of changing the oil in a VAZ 2110 gearbox

Before starting work, make sure that the gearbox oil has warmed up to operating temperature and is hot. Because this is the only way it will merge out of the “box” faster and more efficiently.

You should also prepare a lift or inspection hole, since changing the oil when the car is on a jack is extremely inconvenient.

To perform all work on changing the oil in the VAZ 2110 gearbox, you will need the following tools:

A container for draining old fluid, with a volume of at least 4 liters.
Socket wrench set to "17".
Rags.
Funnel or large syringe.

Replacement frequency

The manufacturer recommends changing the oil in the VAZ 2109 gearbox after 75 thousand kilometers or every five years. Sometimes there is a need for an unscheduled replacement due to lubricant leakage from the box due to leaking oil seals.

It is also necessary to drive the car carefully, not forgetting that the engine crankcase and transmission housing protection were not installed from the factory, so if you hit a curb, stone or stump, you will damage the transmission housing and it may leak.

The transmission housing is made of cast iron, so mechanical shock can cause a crack in it. The oil will gradually flow out through it. It’s unlikely that anyone will undertake to repair a broken box, so be careful when driving a car on bad roads.

Sequence of work

The instructions instruct you to prepare for the work:

Roll the car onto the pit (or lift)
Having driven it first so that the box warms up

Note: You can drain the oil without removing the protection, since there is a hole in it. However, then, at the moment the cork is pulled out, the stream will rush onto the protection and spread over it, and from there to the floor, you see, is not very pleasant. It's easier to unscrew the protection and remove it.

So, we remove the protection, and then proceed to replacement
It is necessary to install a waste container under the drain hole, taking into account the stream, so as not to miss
Using a prepared spanner wrench “17”, unscrew the plug from the drain hole
Remove the plug and drain the oil into the container
After waiting for it to completely drain (the stream has dried up), screw the plug back into place.

Advice: If the oil we drained from the box contains metal particles, and the oil itself is dark in color, then it is recommended to pre-rinse the box. To do this, pour 1-1.5 liters of flushing oil into the gearbox. Then you should hang up one of the drive wheels, start the engine and engage first gear. Stop the engine after 5 minutes, drain the flush and fill the VAZ 2110 with only new transmission oil (according to the manufacturer’s recommendations)

Then we take out the dipstick with which we check the level (see the second photo after the heading “checking the level”)

Then install the funnel and pour lubricant into the hole from the dipstick, or use a syringe
