Replacement process

Having prepared a new set of pads and the above tool, you can begin replacing the pads on your Nissan Qashqai.

Important! Replacement of pads is carried out only on a car with the engine turned off!

Front pads

  1. A stop is placed under the rear wheel.
  2. The nuts on the front wheels are coming off.

  3. The front part of the car is alternately jacked up and placed on supports.
  4. The wheel on which the replacement will be made is removed.
  5. Using a flat screwdriver, press out the caliper cylinder.

  6. From the inside, unscrew the 14 bolts (2 pcs) holding the upper and lower caliper.
  7. The caliper moves to the side without disconnecting the hoses. You can tie it with wire so it doesn't interfere.
  8. The brake pads are pressed out and removed from the bracket. This must be done carefully so as not to damage the brake disc.
  9. New pads are attached to the bracket, and the system is assembled in the reverse order.

Rear pads

  1. A “shoe” is placed under the front wheel.
  2. The nuts on the rear wheels are loosened.
  3. The rear part is alternately jacked up on each side and installed on stable racks.
  4. The wheel on which the parts will be changed is dismantled.
  5. Unscrew the 2 bolts holding the caliper together.

  6. The brake cylinder is moved to the side and, if necessary, tied with wire to the spring.
  7. The bolts securing the guides are unscrewed, and the pre-compressed pads are removed from the bracket.
  8. The cylinder in the caliper is carefully pressed.
  9. New parts are installed and the wheel is assembled.

During replacement, the boot is checked and, if necessary, replaced.

Parking brake pads

Drum brake pads on the Nissan J10 are installed on the rear axle. To replace, you will also need to lift the rear of the car and remove both wheels one by one. First, the handbrake lever is lowered down, and a “shoe” is placed under one or both wheels in front, preventing the car from rolling forward.

  1. The rear wheel is removed and the bolts holding the caliper are unscrewed.
  2. The brake cylinder with the attached hose is retracted to the side and tied up.
  3. The two bolts on the bracket are unscrewed and it is removed.
  4. The brake disc is removed. If it is reproached, it needs to be hit several times with a hammer through a wooden spacer.
  5. The handbrake pads located on the rear side of the hub are dismantled.
  6. Using a screwdriver, first pry off the upper part of the right spring, then the left one.
  7. Both springs are removed.
  8. Next, you need to unscrew the stoppers that prevent the pads from moving, and then remove them.
  9. The spring clips are disconnected.
  10. The pads are dismantled along with the adjusting mechanism.
  11. The handbrake cable is disconnected from the lever on the blocks.
  12. The adjusting mechanism and spring clamps are replaced with new pads.
  13. The handbrake cable is connected, only after that the new pads are installed in place.
  14. Before starting assembly, it is necessary to adjust the tension of all cables using the wheel on the adjustment mechanism. The result should be free rotation without jamming of the brake disc together with the hub when the handbrake lever is lowered.
  15. After assembly, the same manipulations are performed on the second wheel and the handbrake is adjusted from the interior.

After the repair has been completed, you need to start the engine and apply the brake several times. The pedal may fail the first time - this is normal, but it’s better to go on a trip after making sure that everything works.

Replacing pads on a Nissan Qashqai must be done in pairs to maintain the same braking force on both wheels. Brakes ensure the safety of everyone inside and near a moving car, so you shouldn’t skimp on them, even if one of the two pads still seems suitable for driving - such a car’s braking system can become faulty at any time.

Changing the cable and adjusting the handbrake

If one cable is severely worn out or even breaks, it is better to replace two at once. The second, more durable cable will not last long. Again we will have to return to the problem of repairing the parking brake. Do you need it? Moreover, in stores a set of two cables is cheaper than buying them one at a time. It's a small thing, but nice. We carry out repairs on an overpass or in a garage pit. We clean the bottom of the car from dirt.

Sequencing:

  • We securely fix the car (we put stops under the wheels).
  • We remove the decorative panel for glasses in the car interior (use a screwdriver to press on the corner, then pull it up).
  • We remove the caliper.
  • We unscrew the three fastening bolts on the body elements and disconnect the cable under the bottom of the car.
  • Disconnect the cable.
  • The new product is installed in the reverse order.

Adjustment

After installing the cables, the handbrake must be adjusted. We start by checking the length of the lever stroke. We tighten the brake. There must be at least 7 clicks of the ratchet (in this case, the indicator lamp lights up already at the first click). If there are deviations, we adjust them.

Cable tension nut
As in other cars, in Qashqai you need to adjust the nut to tension the cable

Sequencing:

  • Remove the rear wheels (fasten the brake disc with the unscrewed nuts).
  • Remove the switch cover on the center console.
  • Using a long-head wrench, unscrew the adjusting nut until the cable becomes loose.
  • Let's release the lever.
  • We find the regulator on the brake disc. We remove the plug. Next, turn the regulator until the disk stops.
  • Turn the regulator in the opposite direction (7 clicks).
  • We insert the plug.
  • Set the optimal cable tension (by rotating the adjusting nut).

Problems when paying with bank cards

Sometimes difficulties may arise when paying with Visa/MasterCard bank cards. The most common of them:

  1. There is a restriction on the card for paying for online purchases
  2. A plastic card is not intended for making payments online.
  3. The plastic card is not activated for making payments online.
  4. There are not enough funds on the plastic card.

In order to solve these problems, you need to call or write to the technical support of the bank where you are served. Bank specialists will help you resolve them and make payments.

That's basically it. The entire process of paying for a book in PDF format on car repair on our website takes 1-2 minutes.

Nissan Qashqai replacing handbrake cable

How to change the handbrake cable on a Nissan Qashqai?

» Blog » Nissan Qashqai replacing the handbrake cable

So another sore came to light: with the arrival of cold weather, the handbrake cables began to freeze or jam, that is, I put the handbrake on and it didn’t return, without hesitation I decided to change them because, in addition, these cables have stretch properties and I had them stretched and had to tighten them nowhere, I got the cables from NK, based on reviews they don’t seem to be bad, I ordered them from Autodoc, I’ll post the prices for anyone interested

A little about the manufacturer

Now a couple of tips for replacement: it’s better to hang the entire rear out at once and remove both wheels

But first disassemble and install one cable and then, after assembling the first item, another one because It’s easy to get confused with the whole set of springs, pads, bolts, etc. and you still end up having to disassemble the console with the armrest because there’s no other way to do it.

No matter how hard I tried, I disconnected the cables in the cabin, barbarically tearing them out under the car, but to put them back the console still had to be removed

I also advise you to remove it from the brake disc to the console and at the same time immediately remove it from one mount and put a new one on the same mount because bolts tend to get lost. a couple more photos from the disassembly process

Adjustment roller

The springs were not in bad condition, but I changed them anyway

And all the tools that were useful to me, well, actually, all the pads, by the way, also could not have been changed, but somehow they were not ground evenly and the price did not bite, so I changed them.

And one more interesting thing: I recently installed such a stand in the garage

The tools don’t all weigh, but with open-end wrenches it’s become more convenient without having to look for just one in a bunch of tools. Well, that's basically all, good luck to everyone

Replacing hand brake cables in a Qashqai — Nissan Qashqai, 1.6 l., 2011 on DRIVE2

Actually, this winter was outstanding. What the braking system turned into was a big surprise. Let me remind you that I did preventive maintenance last year - everything worked perfectly. What they sprinkled and watered the roads with last season is a mystery. There was a strange coating on the calipers, as if soda had been slaked with vinegar; the pads were jammed and they began to wear unevenly. Therefore, I replaced the front and rear ones with complete maintenance again. It's in the logbook that I installed it. But it didn't end there... this white coating jammed the handbrake cables at the end of winter. And before that, a perfectly working handbrake gave a long life...

Since I can’t do it without a handbrake, I decided to do it.

The handbrake cables on the Qashqai are not cheap compared to the same Hyundai or even the previous Audi, where they cost 10 bucks.

The original costs absolutely inadequate money.

I looked through the selection in the online store and realized that I couldn’t put together a pair from the same manufacturer. Need to order in 2 weeks, etc. crap

I ordered the left one first. Parking brake cable ZIKMAR Z59367R

The cable is beautifully made and I liked it better than the original. The fastenings have a movable design, the cable can easily move in them. The final boss has a more interesting shape and fits firmly into the rocker arm of the lever cable in the cabin. The seal is better. Inside there is silicone lubricant, the cable itself is in a polypropylene sheath.

[/su_box]

Price: $14

But. there was no right one. Alas.

I decided to order the RC manufacturer, number 272253

The cable arrived with the original number... but when I opened the package I was stunned. There were no fastenings to the body... damn, re-hang it from the old one? crap... furthermore, the ear fastening to the hub had a completely different shape and it CANNOT be screwed on! The Qashqais all have the same cables... it turns out that it’s either a jamb of the manufacturer’s catalog, or stupid manufacturing nonsense...

There were no more options for the right cable - it’s NK and more expensive...

Ordered NK number 9022132. Price $20

It came with a mount on the body... but! It was clearly worse made than ZIKMAR. In this regard, ZIKMAR is clearly one of the best non-original options.

Installation showed that the rolled-on rocker arm is much worse than that of ZIKMAR... damn why wasn’t there ZIKMAR...

The final installation showed that the cables have slightly different lengths and the rocker arm warps a little when tensioned. Although I seem to have adjusted the pads to the same number of clicks. This is a little confusing, although the handbrake works well. I lubricated the ends of the cable in the drum with copper grease for the brake system. Because the old ones in the cable fastening that is attached to the hub were simply stuck dead... neither penetrating lubricant nor even heating could save...

The handbrake works) We drive and enjoy ourselves. Not a nail or a rod for everyone!
